Dr. Gardner is the Founder and Managing Partner of HCMS Group LLC and Chairman of the HCMS Group Health as Human Capital Foundation, a research and education non-profit organization. Dr. Gardner’s 40 year career includes medical practice and healthcare organization administration, health professions education and health economics research, and is an accomplished business entrepreneur. His contributions extend beyond healthcare reform to private and public sector business performance improvement as embodied in the HCMS Business Performance Consulting Services. Dr. Gardner is a Wyoming native with post graduate education at the University of Rochester and operates the HCMS Group LLC out of Cheyenne, Wyoming and Denver, Colorado.
Mick Simon is the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for HCMS Group LLC. Mick joined HCMS Group in 2010. He is responsible for operations and finance functions for HCMS’ product and service lines.
Mick has more than 25 years of experience in healthcare IT, finance, and general management roles. Most recently he was Senior Vice President, operations for NextGen Practice Solutions, a business unit of Quality Systems, Inc.
Mick previously worked with Dr. Gardner for more than 10 years as a co-founder of Options & Choices, Inc., heading up operations, technology and finance functions. He attended Brown University and earned a BA in Computer Science.
Ms. Petrini is a Partner and Senior Vice President of HCMS Group LLC and product manager of the HCMS Knova Solutions Clinical Prevention Service. Her collaborations with Dr. Gardner extend over 20 years. She oversees development and delivery of all Knova services nationwide from offices in Cheyenne, Wyoming and Cary, North Carolina. Ms. Petrini’s education was at the University of North Carolina in nursing and healthcare administration.
Nancy Coffin is the Senior Manager of Business Office Operations. She oversees all aspects of Finance, Accounting, Human Resources and Risk Management for the company. She has over two and a half decades of experience in Accounting and Risk Management, in both public and private industry. Her association with Dr. Gardner extends over twenty years. She holds a CPA license and has performed audit, tax and consulting services to large corporations, small businesses, individuals and non-profit entities in Colorado and Wyoming. She earned her BS in Accounting and minor in Economics from Colorado State University.
Nathan Kleinman, PhD is the Director of Health as Human Capital Research Services. He has worked with Dr. Gardner since 1998, performing and guiding all aspects of employee and health related research: from database design and maintenance to statistical analysis to presentation and publishing research results. His work on the effects of illness on cost, work absence, and productivity has been published in nearly twenty peer-reviewed articles and described in over fifty research presentations. His research interests also include analysis of healthcare and disability plan designs, development of risk identification algorithms, and quantification of the economic incentives among and relationships between health care co-pays, therapy compliance, and health outcomes. Dr. Kleinman received a Ph.D. in mathematical sciences from the Johns Hopkins University, specializing in probability and statistics theory and optimization algorithms.
Andrew Krois is Senior Manager of IT/IS Operations. He has over 9 years in technical design and enterprise technology support. In addition to the IT/IS functions, Andrew oversees the production processing and quality of all maintenance data management functions and production applications. His responsibilities also include ensuring the security of HCMS Group LLC clients’ data and assisting in coordinating all privacy activities. He has a Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems and an MBA in Technology Management.
Robert Nelson is the Senior Manager of KnovaSolutions Operations. Mr. Nelson has worked in the health data and consulting world for nearly ten years, part of that time with Dr. Gardner. With a strong background in process management, accounting and finance, his responsibilities include working with data analytics and service delivery management to ensure that KnovaSolutions operations are fully integrated with those of HCMS Group and effectively run for the benefit of employers and KS members. He has an MBA from the University of Wyoming with a focus on finance.
Judy Robinson is the Director of Clinical Prevention Services and provides daily leadership to the clinical staff to ensure quality personal health services are delivered to KnovaSolutions members. She received her Masters of Public Health from San Diego State University and Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Point Loma College in San Diego, CA. Her clinical background includes 30 years of nursing in hospitals, homes and community settings. Her management focus has included positions as the Director of Quality and Risk Management and Patient Safety Officer for a health system and Clinical Services Executive for a nonprofit home health hospice. She is an examiner for the Malcolm Baldrige Quality Award for Colorado. Her background with continuous quality improvement activities has continued with a Six Sigma certification.
Justin Schaneman is a Senior Manager within the HCMS Data Analytic Operations team, focusing specifically on production cycles for data collection, analysis & research services, and business practices consulting. Following a graduate education in Mathematics/Statistics from the University of Wyoming, he has spent several years applying risk segmentation, econometric analysis, and predictive modeling tools to health and human capital problems. Justin joined HCMS in May of 2007 and continues to provide analytic and consulting services to employers and health organizations while providing leadership to HCMS Data Analytic Operations.
Jon Somerset is Vice President of HCMS Data Analytic Operations. Before joining the HCMS Group, he worked with Dr. Gardner for over 10 years. A certified Lean Six Sigma Blackbelt, he oversees all data management and work production cycles, as well as analytical delivery processes, customer application development and expansion. His education was from Purdue University in industrial engineering.
Neil Sullivan, MPH is Director of Human Capital Management Consulting Services. In this role, Neil leads the HCMS consulting team in providing strategic direction to clients through the interpretation of human capital analyses and research. Human Capital Consulting provides an actionable solutions framework around the organizational-client data discoveries and empirical research produced at HCMS on behalf of each of its client partner organizations. Neil’s education includes a B.S in Community Health Education and a Masters in Public Health.
Mike Turner is the Vice President of Business Development for HCMS Group. He has responsibility for sales activities for HCMS Group LLC service products, and participates in strategic business decisions as a member of the senior leadership team. Mike has over 18 years experience in the employee benefits and risk management industry. In addition, he has extensive experience in complex information services consulting and business development to mid/large size employers, insurance companies and governmental agencies. Mike has a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a double major in Risk Management/Insurance, and Finance.
